Step 1 - Complete the Online Application

- Registered Information - personal application information
- Application Questionnaire - recruitment source information
- Preliminary Background Application (PBA) - The PBA is designed to help candidates identify some of the common areas of the background investigation process which may need to be explained, may cause delay, or affect the candidates' progress in that phase of the selection process.
- Job Preview Questionnaire (JPQ) - The JPQ is designed to help candidates to better understand the nature of the work they will be performing as a law enforcement officer.
NOTE: Bring the printed PBA and JPQ results with you to the test site.
Step 2 - Find a Test Site and Take the Personal Qualifications Essay (PQE) written test
The Personal Qualifications Essay (PQE) consists of essay questions related to judgment and decision making and behavioral flexibility. Your written communication skills will also be evaluated. If you fail, you may retake the PQE after three months.

NOTE: You MUST present a valid State or Federal issued photo identification card when appearing for the test. Any candidate who does not have a valid State or Federal issued photo identification card WILL NOT be allowed to take the test. Remember to bring the printed PBA and JPQ results with you to the test site.
